Set in a little separated town in fourteenth-century Wales, Alice is a multi-year-old young lady who is blamed for being a witch and causing the plague that has desolated the town, ending the lives of many, including Alice’s own dad. When it is uncovered that Alice has been concealing her mom’s contamination, she is compelled to watch The Cleanser, an unpropitious veiled figure, mercilessly dispatch her mom. The town evangelist and accepted pioneer Tom has eyes for Alice and subjects her to five agonizing preliminaries after she spurns his advances. Getting away from the night prior to her execution, with the assistance of her mom’s companion Mary, she escapes into the timberland and finds the isolated cabin of a secretive healer, with his own grieved past and evil spirits to confront. He nurtures her back to wellbeing and shows her how to get vengeance upon those that oppressed her.
